Michigan Theater Marquee - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Michigan Theater Marquee Print - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Michigan Theater Marquee – by James Howe

Although this sign is not original, it’s very fitting in its style.  The Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor is a genuine classic movie palace.  Opened in 1928, the original sign was replaced in the 1950’s with the changing times and tastes.

Like many of these old palaces, in recent times, there were questions about what to do with it and local groups who championed the cause to keep a piece of history.  The Michigan Theater has been renovated and, in recent years, a fundraiser was used to replace the marquee with this lovely sign, more in keeping with the original.  Bravo to local groups who not only value their local history but work to save it!

This particular photo print has brilliant colors and a really unique angle on the sign.  Although many wouldn’t think to try this angle, the amount of details it provides makes it an instant classic.
