Fleetwood Diner - Ann Arbor Michigan

Fleetwood Diner Print - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Fleetwood Diner Print by James Howe

A really colorful local scene from Ann Arbor, Michigan.  The artist used HDR photography and created a work that almost appears illustrated.  This is an excellent example of “photo-art”- photography that takes on a quality of  a painting or illustration while still be identifiable as a photograph.

The Fleetwood Diner apparently has a long history in Ann Arbor.  From the artist’s description:

The Fleetwood Diner is an Ann Arbor institution. The diner opened in 1949 as the Dag-Wood and was built from a kit manufactured by the Dag-Wood Diner Company in Toledo, Ohio. The diner was renamed the Fleetwood Diner in 1971. The exterior was originally enamel, but was given a stainless steel exterior in 1998.

A really great print for Ann Arbor natives or anyone who appreciates the classic style of those old prefab diners.  Even today we still see chains embrace this style because of our collective love of this period.
